McKinnon & Company Outfitters, Bonnet Plume
Yukon -
The Yukon supports a tremendous dall sheep herd and clients have had great success harvesting these large rams while hunting at the Bonnett Plume. Don Ledbetter, a Mamemo Outfitting & Consulting client who has hunted with me with several outfitters and is pictured above, stalked into shooting distance and was able to take this magnificent dall sheep. The sheep scored 173 B&C and is the number two sheep harvested in the Yukon.
The Bonnett Plume area in the Yukon is over 18,000 square kilometers, about the size of the state of New Jersey. There are 3 main rivers that flow through the area, the Wind, the Snake and Bonnett Plume. The area encompasses 4 different mountain ranges with the
Continental Divide slicing right through the area. Hunts offered are for
Dall sheep, moose, caribou and grizzly. This is one of the premier hunting areas of North America. Chris utilizes small aircraft to move the hunters into, around and out of the area. Most hunts are conducted on horseback. A few are backpack hunts as well as floating down the rivers using spot and stalk methods from small spike camps. The guides are professional and well experienced in mountain hunting. Having hunted the Yukon personally several times over the past 10 years for sheep, moose and grizzly, I feel nowhere else in the Yukon are your odds better for that trophy of a lifetime.
Alberta -
Chris McKinnon is the owner and operator of McKinnon and Company Outfitters in Alberta as well as the Bonnett Plume in the Yukon. His Alberta area is over 8,000 square miles of natural wilderness. Hunting for whitetail deer or black bear is based out of a spectacular log style lodge sitting on the shore of Calling Lake. The whitetail here are legendary and the black bear, where you can take two, are plentiful with lots of colored phase bears taken each year. In the spring, the fishing for walleye and trophy sized northern pike is unmatched. I have been to Chris' camp at least half a dozen times, always with a large group of friends and clients with great success and some of the fondest memories a hunting trip can provide.
